Charity Fund Raising!
Welcome to the Charity Fund Raising Page.
From time to time, I'll be holding auctions, running races and doing other fund-raising activities for various causes. Sometimes, they'll be in support of individuals, families or smaller, more up-close-and-personal charities that work to improve the lives of people in every day ways. Sometimes, I'll choose a charity that's close to my heart because of my own personal experiences.
This year, with one thing and another, doing official races will be tricky - and might not happen at all. Instead, I'm setting myself the target of running 2019 miles in 2019 - and it would be absolutely amazing if I could raise £1 for each of the miles I run, for Embrace the Middle East.
The work of Embrace - building bridges and bringing love and healing to individuals and communities living in a much-overlooked and turbulent region - is so important and I'm thrilled to be able to support it in this way.
Added to the amazing work of the charity itself, is the family factor. My wonderful brother, Mark Calder, is running fourteen ultra marathons this year in support of Embrace - an immense challenge and one in which I want to join him in whatever way I can.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for your support. Every penny counts!
LONDON MARATHON 2017
I'm very excited to have got a Good For Age place for the London Marathon in 2017 - and at least as excited that my brother also has a Good For Age place, meaning that for the first time, we'll be running a race together. (Or at least, the same race on the same day. Younger, male-er person that he is, he'll be looking to finish a good 30-45 minutes ahead of me!)
I'm hoping to use this event to raise money for another excellent charity: Mind and am aiming for a £500 target.
If you'd like to show your support - both for me in my running endeavors, and for this truly worthwhile cause - follow this link and the instructions on the page.
Thank you!!
Beat - the UK’s leading charity supporting anyone affected by eating disorders.
I've set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for B-Eat. This isn't attached to any specific race or target, but is an ongoing page where you can donate in response to any of my running achievements and attempts!
As an eating disorder survivor, this is a charity that's close to my heart. Please give generously, as you're able.

I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year.
Cancer is such an insidious disease - and one that impacts on all of us, sooner or later.
Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore. By sponsoring me, we will beat cancer sooner.
Please sponsor me here, and share the link to my fundraising page. Every penny counts!
I’m running the Ealing Half Marathon 2015 for Alzheimer's Society on Sunday 27th of September 2015.
The Alzheimer's Society do great work, fighting this horrible condition, brought more sharply into focus in recent years by the late, great, much-beloved Sir Terry Pratchett.
It would be great if you could donate and share my Just Giving Page, so that I can raise as much as possible to help them lead the fight against dementia to end the distress it causes. Thank you.
Visit the Alzheimer's society's page here to read more about their work.

Worth Unlimited
Worth Unlimited is a highly valuable organisation, working across the UK with potentially vulnerable young people.
The branch of Worth Unlimited in Waltham Forest (local to me) has been running since May 2000. The London Borough of Waltham Forest is in the North East of London and although the north of the Borough is suburban, much of the south is typically inner-city in feel. There are, however, as many problems of exclusion and disaffection among young people in the north as there are in the south of the borough suggesting that our aim to tackle the causes of exclusion are about more than just financial poverty.
Gracie's Eye Gaze Technology
Gracie has Rett Syndrome, a condition that almost exclusively affects girls and women.
For Gracie, Rett syndrome means not being able to communicate or move in the usual ways. It means seizures, breathing problems, difficulty eating, tremors and heart complications. She can comprehend everything normally, but is unable to express herself, except through her often-present, sunny smile.
